Circus Berlin • Summer Holiday Project 2016 #8

Image
Today was Lilly's first ever time at the circus, and I couldn't have been more proud of her. We visited the Continental Circus Berlin which is currently touring Europe.  I haven't heard of this circus before but I love a trip to the circus and this show certainly did not disappoint.  We arrived an hour before the show and had some 50% off vouchers which made our tickets £3.50 for Lil's and £5 for me, this is for the rear view seats, which was slightly restricted by the pole but we still have a good enought view of everything. The show started with all the performers coming into the ring and dancing around as an inrtoduction.  The first act was jugglers which included two ladies and two men. They were really good and had some nice tricks between them too. The next act was a lady who used an aerial hoop, this was the act that really caught Lil's eyes and she really seemed to enjoy this. There was also a contortionist who managed to shoot a ...

A lazy day • Summer holiday project 2016 #4

Image
Today was quite a lazy boring day with a lot of housework and some shopping to do as well. Lilly enjoted doing another magazine with me and played with her playdoh too. The day started with the house work, the most boring part with foldong clothes, washing up, making beds and general sorting out. Whilst I was doing this Lil's was making a huge mess in her room 'playing' After we got a magazine out and worked through some of the workbook. Lilly seems to really be enjoying doing these and luckily we have a dair few more to go through. We met my Mum and Dad up Tesco and did a bit of shopping, we also had a chimwag over a drink the the cafe with a cheeky cake too. This evening has just been the usual bath and bedtime but I wish I was in bed too haha.  How are you holidays so far? xXx

Our Sunflower Opened • Summer Holiday Project 2016 #2

Image
Today we have spent the day indoors enjoying each others company before having a little adventure tomorrow down the park.  Today we had a little surprise pocking up in our window, our sunflower had opened which was pretty exciting for me and Lil's as this is the second year we hace attempted to grow sunflowers Indoors.  We almost lost this one about a week ago as Lil's knocked it over and bent the stem but I put a plaster on and it seems to have worked a treat. We had a lovy chill morning with Lil's playing babies in her room whilst I did a bit of housework. We then ad lunch and not even an hour after Lilly climbed onto Daddy's lap and fell asleep. She had a good 45 minute nap. When she woke we played on the pad together using the playtime app which the alphablocks learning letters and spelling. She got a bit bored after a while of that so we got one of her magazines out and worked thrugh the workbook together which included colouring,...

My Summer Holiday Project

Image
I have been very quiet on my blog for a few weeks due to family issues, now they are a little more under contol I want to get back into blogging and the best way I could think of doing this was to blog our summer holiday. Lilly's last day of Nursery was yesterday which ended in a picnic so now we are officially on summer holidays. I want to write a diary of what we get up to so I am going to be trying to do a blog our crafts, adventures and day to day experiences. I would like to try and do this every day from Monday so I can look back on it and remeber making memories. I hope you enjoy this and that it gets my blogging mojo back :) xXx

Armed Forces Day • 2016

Image
A couple of Sunday's ago just we attended our local Armed Forces Day. This is held in our local park and has lots of different things happening. We arrived about 11 which was sadly after the parade had happened, each year the event starts with a parade of cadets, girl guiding associations, veterans and members from each of the forces, this year there were also so Gurkha's who I sadly missed as they had to go back to base. The first thing Lilly saw was the bouncy castles, they were only little ones but perfect for the event, they only charged £2 for as long as they wanted which I thought was really good. Lil's had a good 15 minutes on these while I spoke to my parents and decided where we would go next. The next thing we went to was to get Lil's face painted, she had been going on about this since I had mentioned that there was going to be face painting there, she asked for a butterfly which she got done, they then offered to do mine too, I had a glit...

Mummy + Me • June 2016

Image
How is it possible that I am writing my June Mummy + me. We have had a busy month full on appointments, an interview and sorting stuff out. Sadly I haven't taken many pictures of both us us this month but this one makes me smule so much, her smile just lightens up my day. This month we haven't had the best weather again so a lot of time has been a lot of indoor play and just enjoying each others company. She can now write her name herself, which makes me so proud and can almost count to 25 which is made. The time we did enjoy outside was either enjoying the sun (when it shone)at the park with a picnic and also we attended our local Armed Forces Day which was a lovely afternoon out. As of today we just have three weeks left of school runs before having my girl home for the summer holidays, I seriously cannot wait, but don't want to eish time away yet haha. How was June for you? It was certainly better than recent months for us. xXx

Our bedtime routine

Image
I shared our Morning routine a couple of weeks back and wanted to follow that up with a bedtime routine for you all. I am quite nosey and personally love posts like this, hopefully there are some other nosey people out there lol. Our bedtime routine starts at about 6pm and Lilly is in bed at 7pm  6 - 6.15pm - Bath time starts, this happens every other day due to her eczema. We play and use bath paint and have a good old wash 6.30 - 6.40pm Time to get out, time to get into pj's, creams on, teeth cleaned and hair dried. If it isn't bath night this is when out routine starts.  6.50pm She is usually ready for bed now so we get her into bed and Daddy comes in to say goodnight and give her cuddles whilst making her some warm milk. 6.55pm Milk and story time for Lils, we always have a story which Lilly loves, this really calms her down and gets her ready for sleep. 7 - 7.10pm Time to say goodnight and tuck in time. We always say 'Good night, sweet d...

Space themed crafts

Image
Last week on Cbeebies was my little girls favourite theme to learn about, Space week. She absoloutly loves 'Stargazing' and has learnt a lot from it. She has also enjoyed learning about Tim Peake and where he is at the moment. To coincide with space week I thought that we could do a couple of crafts to do with space.  The first craft we did were shining stars, these were Lilly's idea so that Time Peake could see her from his 'space home'. These are so simple to do. You will need: - paper cut into start - glue - glitter/glitter pens - sequins - other decotating bits ie. Sweet wrappers, wrapping paper, foam This is so easy to do with your little one, I just put the glue on for her as there wasn't a lot left and let her have full rein of creativity. I love the way she made them both different. One has glitter glue pens on and the other has proper glitter. The second craft we did was a space helmet. This again is very simple to ...

Corn flour slime • Sensory Activity

Image
I love doong sensory play with Lilly and this is one that we have dine recently, cornflour slime. This is so cool and so easy to make, it is also quite easy to clean up too. You will need - Cornflour - Water - Food colouring (extra) All you do to make the slime is put some conflour onto a tray or plate and slowly add  a little water, mix together until it forms a thin paste. You can add the food colouring here if you wish. I love this myself as it kind of forms a solid when being played with but will settle as a liquid. We like to make a fountain of our hands and let the liquid form run through oir fingers.  This is a brilliant messy play for toddler and you could always add bits to teach things or we have used to put over toy animals in the past to learn what certain aninals look like. It's also a great way in introduce the idea of solids and liquids to them I love doing this messy play with her and she absolutely loves it....

BHP Show 2016 • Lydden Hill

Image
The last time I visited the BHP show I was pregnant with Lil's and it was only a one day event. This year I got to take my baby back to see it for herself and enjoy two days there instead, including a COLD night of camping.  The BHP show is (I believe) a yearly event which takes place at Lydden Hill Race Circuit. This is about 1 hour and a half drive from our house so not too far for us to go, Lilly was as good as gold travelling both there and back, but then again she slept the whole way back.  The show wasn't as good as back in 2012 due to the lack of demo's but the Drift Allstars team were amazing and made Lilly scream with joy after a silly 5 minutes of being scared.  On the Sunday we took a look around the pits, that's a big reason why we like Lydden hill is because of the open pits. There were so many nice cars both drift cars and track day cars too. Lilly was very excited especially aboutt the purple one pictured below.  There was a gia...

Learning letters with bath paint

Image
Lilly has been learning about letters at school and is learning how to write her name, so last night I decided to use our bath paint mentioned in my  April favourites  post. We started off with spelling and writing her name on the wall, I wrote it as the bath paint isn't the easiest to use. She seemed to enjoy watching and learning through this so decided to start writing letters on the wall and getting her to tell me what letter it was.  After she told me the letter I got her to try and think of words that begin with that letter which worked really well. Se was able to come up with some words for all the letters I wrote down for her. She did get a little confused with C and K, when I asked her for an animal that began with C she said Kangaroo but I explained as best I could and told her that it was a good try too. We played with the paint for a good 20 minutes which kept Lilly ammused and was teaching her at the same time. It was so nice to see her en...

One stressed Mummy!

Do you ever feel like someone above doesn't like you so throws everything they can at you? That's how I feel right now. The past month has been awful! We have had no end of money issues, I hit a pot hole and damaged my car (fixed now) we have all been ill in one way or another and to top it off Lilly is acting like a threenager. I partially mentioned this in my Mummy + Me  post but it just seems to be getting worse. The past few days she has had strange mood swings, she has started throwing toys (which she knows not to do), she says NO constantly and strops when something doesn't go her way. If she's like this now, I dread to think whar the teens are going to be like (I may pack my bags before then haha). I must admit I do over worry about things and hold things in to much which she may pick up on but I have always been like that and unsure how to get myself out of that frame of mind. I do try and hide my trials and tribulations from her as much as possible...

Mummy + Me • April 2016

Image
This my first Mummy and me post, I have wanted to write these for a while but have never gotton round to it. I have always wanted to document my little girls life from day one and filmed weekly pregnancy vlogs too. We have been adverntuing out more with me having a car, then when getting back home Lil's love to wrap up in her dressing gown for some snuggles. This month has been a testing month with extra expenses and illnesses going round.  Now its the end of the month and we are MEANT to be going away camping and watching racing but have a broken car and two out of the three of us is ill. Hopefully all will be well by then.  The threenager has really come out in Lilly in the past couple of months with her sulking over silly things, but she has started listening at nursery better which makes me super happy and proud of her.  xXx

Water bead sensory play

Image
We have mentioned these before when Lilly was just over 2 years old but I still had a packet in the drawers.  These are so easy to use, you get a small pack of the colour in tiny form, you then let them soak in the amount of water stated for the time stated, then they're ready to go. The texture is very slimy and slippery but bounce very well which Lilly loves. We play with them in the bath to keep the mess to a minimum otherwise I'll be finding them in a years time. They do brake eventually but Lilly gets a good 30 - 45 minutes per pack before we call it time. I get two different colour packs off of eBay for just 99p and they are usually delivered within a few days. eBay shop These are brilliant for learning colours or could even use them for a themed sensory play such as maybe the beach with shells and other related bit too. These are brilliant even for Lilly's age, she gets a lot of fun of them and they keep her out of mischief fo...

A Trip to Fairlight Country Park

Image
It is coming to the end of the Easter school break so want to make the most of the last few days with her, especially now I have a car to take her places.  Yesterday I decided to take Lil's on a trip to Fairlight Country Park which isn't to far from us luckily.  The Country park is a beautiful place which so many little trails that we can take. The first trail we took goes straight past the Fairlight coastguard station with the radar. The trail then goes off towards the cliffs, the view from up there is just beautiful. On a good clear day you can actually see over to Dieppe, France. We then took the long walk back up the hill to the carpark where we took the second trail up. This trail took us though to the old quarry, this looks like something out of a movie as it is so surreal. The trail took us down some man made and some natural steps down in the the main part, once down the steps we were surrounded by the rocks from the quarry.  We then headed back a...

My week in Pictures • 14th - 20th March

Image
We have had a pretty uneventful week but I took a few pictures. First up I decided that it was time to get ready for Easter, so I brought some Easter decorations for Lil's window. On Thursday it was the day for Lil's nursery to dress up for Sports Relief. They had to wear red and obviously we didn't have any. Luckily my Mum came to the rescue woth two cute red cardigans from Sainsbury's which I paired with the  Mini club floral tunic  and a blue pair of tights. And her school shoes. Lastly from today, it has become a yearly tradition to watch the runners of the Hastings half marathon from Lilly's Great Grandma's house. This year we saw so many people dressed up, a man running the whole thing backwards and some very fast runners doing a 13.1 miles run in just over an hour. Crazy. We have had a lovley week and finished it with a quick drive through the countryside on the first Spring day of the year.  xXx

Lilly loves shopkins

Image
We have a new family joining our house in the way of Shopkins. Lilly's been watching videos of people unboxing these things for a few months now along with surprise eggs and advent calenders. We asked her to look for a magazine she just kept going to the shopkins one which came with one, she now has 10 of them and loves to introduce them to each other when she gets new ones. Tonight we have played by doing rple play with them and getting them to talk to each other and hug each other.  We have a small box to keep them safe on with the list to tick off when you get them. It's super cute that she has this little obsession (her first of many) and it's so nice to see her interact with them and learn there names too. Lets see how long it lasts lol xXx

Pumpkin carvings • Halloween

Image
We have been busy carving pumpkins for Halloween and wanted to share our carvings with you. Firstly my other half created this wonderful wolf, he did a fantastic job on it. Last year the daily mail had a pumpkin carving tamplates page of which my other half chose to do this one. It took him about an hour woth making the holes around the template and then carefully cutting out the shape. Then making it perfect by gettibg rid of any unwanted bits. I think he did a brilliant job and it looked so spooky all lit up  The next one way my creation. I wanted to make mine look scary so made everything quite triangular and angry looking.  I just drew the face on then cut into the pumpkin using a pumplin carving kit from poundland. Lastly lilly wanted a happy pumpkin which she helped scoop all the inards out of.  She also helped me cut the pumpkin but made sure I had hold of the little saw so I could stop at any point for any reason. She loves s...

Toddler OOTD | Autumn edition

Image
Lilly has some beautiful clothes for this season so there may be a couple of these type of posts up. This specific outfit is so beautiful and something I personally would never this about buying for Lilly. This was a birthday gift and has completely changed my mind on clothing like this. The blue dress really suited her with the 79's style floral print. I think this is a really nice outfit for a warm(ish) autumn day with a cute pair of boots to finish the look off. It certainly makes a change to her wearing leggings.  The dress is from miniclub clothing at boots and her tights are from F&F from Tesco. This look has really made me consider looking for more long sleeve dresses for some nice outfits for play dates or just every day outfit.
