MSC Splendida look back | 9/1/12 | Pregnant and Formal evening

The 9th of January 2012 was a very surreal day for me. We woke late this day as we had a day at sea, I knew that I was 2 days late and had brought a test with me so that I could check when away. At about 10am I took the test and within one minute it had shown a positive result. I was ridiculously exciting and we were so hapoy after what had happened the previous year. I had been taking pre natals and been watching what I drank from the off set so it was certainly welcome news and I felt a lot more confident. We spent the day relaxing and just taking a look around the ship itself while we had then chance. We even put on our dressing gowns and headed to the hot tub at the back of the boat. Just to sit in there and relax whilst out at sea was so refreshing. After that we went to the main hall to have lunchx which was always a buffet lunch, there was such a wide variety of food and thr main bit that I liked was the quiche they did. We then went back to searching th...

Birth and having a Newborn • So unprepared

This is a rather different post to what I normally write but I feel like I have to.  Looking back on my pregnancy and the first few months of having Lilly I was so naive. I really didn't know what I was doing and what I had to come. I was very lucky with my pregnancy on how it went. I never thought about how much my body would change or anything, I never brought a maternity item or any special creams for stretch marks so I ended up living in jogging bottoms or jeans held together with a hairtie.  The one thing that I did use was pretty natal vitamins from the very start.  Going into the final few week I packed my hospital bag which was almost OK as had watched a few YouTube video. I made sure that I had plenty of bits for Lilly and even took some milk cartons in to. I went into labor just as I wanted to, with my waters breaking and got very excited but ended up being sick for about an hour after they broke, I then went into panic mode which in ...

Throwback Thrusday | Playing the bad guy

I thought I'd share a picture of our pantomime days. I love doing these and really enjoyed being the villan this year.  I was actually about 6 weeks pregnant when we did the panto and I had to change a few this to make it easier to do.  I was playing the character or Morgana in Merlin. My Dad played Merlin and grew his hair and beard just for the character. It has always been a family affair and we have many memories of these from way back when I started at the age of 4.  This was the first year that I had ever played a bad guy and it was so fun to do. I have played the lead many time and been in the chorus a fair few times too.  I had a brilliant time playing the bad one but really struggled to be evil enough at first, I also had to sing, which I wasn't very good at but I still did and everyone seems ok with it. I have amazing memories and many pictures to remind me of the fun I have had over the years and the friends I have made too. ...

So two years ago today was the first time i saw out little girl :) a small little baby on the screen. I remember sitting in the waiting room thinking all these what ifs?  what if there's nothing there? what if it was like before? what if the hearts not beating? the scariest part of my whole pregnancy I think.  But to our amazement and joy a little baby popped up on the screen in front of us. He kept moving the wand over my belly, it was surreal that the baby on the screen was in my belly.  I know the pain of bad news, being told sorry it not going to survive, but the second time was our turn and our little girls turn to be a part of this world.  I believe that I was more grateful for her but more worried through the whole time being pregnant because of my past. For those who have loved and lost, spare a thought. For no matter how long you are pregnant they are still a part of you.  Viki xx...
