Rare Breeds Cantre - Family Day Out

Image
We recently took a trip to the Rare Breeds Centre in Kent, which is a 100 acre farm with so much to do, from pig racing to animal encounters there is something to keep the children entertained all day.  We arrived around 10am and were instantly greeted with the sight of animals, near the car park were a couple of fields with some sheep in and at the entrance to the farm there were a couple of goats. Firstly we took a look into Creepy Crawly World, a room full of insects and reptiles, from trantulas to snakes to lizards, Lil's loved looking at them all but was glad that they were behind glass. We then decided to go to the petting area first which Lils absoloutly love, there were bunny rabbits, guinea pigs and a goat out for the children to say hello to, there are also a few animals in pens around the edge including pigs, more goats, a horse and a donkey. We then joined queue for the tractor/trailor ride, the ride itself takes around 15-20 minutes so be prepared t...

World of country life

Image
When in Devon we took a trip to the World of Country life. There was so much to do there, something for everyone.  At the World of country life there were animals of all sorts, vehicle museum and steam museum, also play areas for the children (or big kids like me and Liam).  The first part that we looked round was all about farming machines and the way they used to work. They were all working and and the mini train had all moving parts. We then went into a section of little scenes and costumes from the past. We then entered a little village row with shops and a public house to look in. There were many animals to see including deer, rhias, pigs, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats and a little nursery full of baby rabbits and cute chicks. Lilly was very unsure of the larger animals but the baby goats were definitely her cup of tea. They also had a birds of prey display, we saw  a hawk and an owl. The owl was amazing and actually flew over...

Town and Country fair

Image
Today Lilly's Nanny took us to the Town and Country fair as it killed a couple of hours on a boring Sunday after noon. Lilly went on her first ride, which was a rattly old train, bless her. She was scared at first but after a couple of turns around she was fine, ringing the bell and waving at Nanny. They had some unusual animals there such as this wollaby (Sorry about spelling) which was quite random but pretty nice to see. There were also so many goats and dogs around. How cute is this goat?!? Lilly liked looking but didnt want to stroke them. All she wanted to do was walk around all the chickens and rabbit cages, for about 15 minutes straight and saying hello to them. Such a nice couple of hours, shame there wasnt more to see.  XxX

A trip to the farm

Image
Today me and Lilly took a trip to a working farm in Pett. It was a nice day for it and we really enjoyed ourselves.  There were 4 types of animals that we saw which were Cows, sheep, chickens and ducks.  We started off by walking over some on the fields and saw the sheep waiting to give birth, and collected such things as feathers and wool. We then headed back to the main bit so got to walk through a field of sheep and head along the trail with chickens everywhere. We made it to the cow shed where there were so many cows and they just k ept appearing, there was a cow just given birth so very protective. Lilly was so nervous at first but got over that in the end and tried to feed a couple herself. After we saw some ducks and then we had to come home, So we washed our hands and off home we came.  Hope you enjoyed our little adventure as much as we did. Viki x
