Giving Blood | My Experience

Image
A few weeks ago I plucked up the courage and went and gave blood for the first time in about 5 years. I was ridiculously nervous as I am not good with needles but wanted to do this to help others. I booked a time slot online that suited around me, I then recieved a couple of reminder texts and a text on the actual day reminding me to drink plenty. I arrived a little bit early and had another glass of water whilst waiting. I was called over to go over my medical form and check my blood before hand and was then told to wait in a different area to be called over. When calles over I told the bloke that I was nervous but he calmed me by talking to me and telling me about some exercises that I could do to keep my blood pressure up. I was tipped back in the special check and told to relax, he put the needle in and secured it which wasn't half as bad as my mind had thought, he then left me too it. The donation itself took just 10 minutes and was pretty painless. Aft...

Abnormal cells • Smear test • My treatment

My name was called and I went into the room. At first a nurse went through what she was going to do and asked a few questions, I was then asked to get ready.  The colposcopy was a little uncomfortable, just like the smear and was a little longer. She then gave me the news that everything looks clear but would take a biopsy to confirm her investigation, this was the worst bit, it felt l...

My breastfeeding story

I think this is an important for me to post as it took me a long time to accept that it wasn't going to work out for us. My story is a very brief one that only lasted two weeks.  I struggled from the offset and had a lots of tears that went with that. When in hospital and the first few days home I was souly breast feeding but she would struggle to latch or would be onnfor such a short amount of tine and then be hungry a few minutes later.  When in hospital I remember getting very upaet and another Mum on the ward reassured me and said that it was a struggle with her too, this helped a little until that night. Lilly had been fussy since Daddy had left and wouldn't latch at all. In the end a lovely midwife came over, got me to lie on my side, got Lilly to latch a told me to close my eyes and gdt some sleep. She said that she would check on me soon and move Lilly if need be. I woke about 3 in the morning to find Lilly fast asleep in the cot. That was the only midwife in ...
