Armed forces day | Alexandra park

Image
Today me and Lilly went to our local Armed forces day celebration down our main park. There was lots to see and do including displays from local groups and parades, there was also a chairoplane and bouncy castles there and they had stalls and tombolas as well. After the parade we started wandering and managed to catch the military college students pulling the truck along. It took them a while to get it moving but once they had they were fine. They also pushed it back up the field too. Food wise they had a burger van which was really cheap for the food they did, they had a crepes stand which I think is a brilliant idea. They also had an ice cream van which Lilly choose and a sweet stand. They had this cute, original 1950's chairoplane for the children which Lilly was so excited to go on. She loved it and was smiling the whole way around. They also had a couple of bouncy castles too. There was a few stalls with local charities and groups running ...

Mayday | Jack in the green and Bike run

Image
Every year in our town on May day the air is filled with the smell of petrol and oil and the streets are full of bikers and green people.  We have an annual celebration of spring called Jack in the Green. This is, I believe to banish the winter and welcome this spring. We have drummers,  morris dancers and many people dressed in green for the parade, I have taken part a few times and my Dad and Brother still do. Hence the photo below. We managed to see most of the parade, seeing many morris dancing groups and a few drumming groups, some that I had never seen before and of course Sambalanca.  The other thing that happens in town is the May day bike meet, thousands of bikes travel from all over the country to our little town every May day. Some of the bikes are absoloutly amazing, the paintwork or even just the uniqueness of the bikes I is imemse and the noise is extraodinary, especially when there revving or doing a burnout. I would so lov...

Zombie walk | 1066 Walk of the dead

Image
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Last Saturday was an annual parade called the zombie walk or the walk of the dead. Every year 1066 walk of the dead takes part to raise money for charity, this was our first year at taking part and I will definitely be there next year with plenty more gore. Lilly loved it and by the end was trying to scar people with her silly zombie voice. Below is a selection of pictures from the day.  Not sure why but I really like this photo of when I was getting my make up done One scary lady, even creeps me out. A few of the zombies! Was such an awesome day and was good to know it was for a good cause. Will definetly be better prepared next year and sort out a proper costume to go with the make-up. I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween, whatever ypu may be up to. XxX
