Cheese and Potato Bake | Recipe and Method

Today I am sharing a lovely family meal which we all seem to enjoy in this house, it is also pretty simple to make and goes great with quite a few things. We personally serve this with gammon but it goes well with sausages and grill steaks. Me and Lils usually have sweetcorn or broccoli too.  Ingredients 115g Grated Cheese 1 egg 30g Butter 150ml Double Cream 675g Medium/Large potatoes 1 large onion Salt and pepper How to 1. Preheat oven to 180°c/Gas Mark 4.  2. Peel potatoes and slice thinly.  3. Slice onions and soften in butter.  4. Grease a baking dish or we use a loaf tin.  5. Place a layer of potato slices as a base, then add salt and pepper. 6. Next add some of the onions and some of the grated cheese. Save some cheese for the top.  7. Repeat until most/all the potatoes are used.  8. Beat your egg into the cream then pour over the potato layers.  9. Sprinkle with cheese and cook for 1 hour...

Peppermint Creams | Recipe and Method

Over the Christmas holidays from school I love to keep lils entertained with a lot of baking,  we usually share our makes with family and friends.  This time we have added a very yummy recipe to the list which is Peppermint creams, these were one of my Mums favourite sweets so will now be a tradition to make them in memory of her. This recipe only has 4 ingredients and is so easy to make and requires no baking.  Recipe 400g Icing sugar 1 egg White Juice of half a lemon 1/2 tsp Peppermint extract  Method 1. Beat egg until a foam appears on top.  2. Add a small amount of lemon and mix.  3. Add the icing sugar and stir to form a dough.  4. Add the peppermint extract and stir into the dough 5. Sage and Onion Yorkshire Puddings

Welcome back, it's been a whole since I've taken care of my blog, but I feel like I need to share my latest success with you all. The giant sage and onion Yorkshire pudding. In the past we have tried a branded version of these and I wanted to try and create my own, they worked out perfectly and I don't think we will ever go back to the original Yorkshire pudding recipe after trying these. Recipe ( Makes 8 large puddings) 100ml of Milk 2 Large Eggs 100g Plain Flour 1 tsp Dried Sage 1 tps Onion Salt Oil for cooking Method 1. In a large jug mix the milk and egg together well, using a whisk. 2. Slowly add the flour and mix in well until the mixture is completely smooth, it can take a couple of minutes. 3. Add both the onion salt and dried sage to your batter and mix well. 4. Heat a Yorkshire pudding tin with a tablespoon of oil per pudding in the oven 220oC/Gas Mark 7 for about 10-15 minutes. 5. Isn't gingerbread the perfect snack for Christmas, so spicy and taste so yummy. We absolutely love making and decorating these around Christmas. It takes a little while to make the dough but they are well worth it. Here is an easy recipe for you all to follow. Recipe 350g Plain Flour 1 tsp Bicarb of Soda 2 tsps Ground Ginger 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon 125g Butter 175g Light Brown Sugar 1 Medium egg 4 tbsp Golden Syrup Method 1. Sift the flour, bicarb of soda, ginger and cinnamon into a bowl/mixer. Add the butter and mic until it looks like breadcrumbs, then add your sugar. 2. Add your egg and the golden syrup (oil the spoon so it doesn't stick). Mix it all together until it makes a dough. 3. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and put in the fridge for 15-30 mins 4. I have created a 6 inch round Christmas cake for 2016 which is smaller than normal but this time it is just for me and Lilly. I had a few problems on the way like dropping the cake for one, luckily I managed to scoop it back ito the tin and cook for a bit longer to set it. Here is the recipe and method for you all, it's not to late to make one for yourself. Recipe 700g Mixed fruit 25g Ground Almonds 50g Glace cherries 150g Plain flour 1/2 tsp Mixed spice 150g Butter 150g Brown sugar 1/2 Lemon rind and juice 3 Standard eggs 100ml Rum/Brandy/Whisky Method 1 Preheat oven to 200oc/gas mark 6 2 Line sides and bottom of cake tin with double parchment paper 3 Cream butter and sugar until fluffy 4 Beat in eggs one at a time, if starts to curdle add a little flour 5 Add rind and juice of the lemon 6 Mix flour, ground almonds and spice together 7 Toss mixed fruit and cherries into flour 8 Add fruit and flour to other ingredient...

Gooey Flapjacks • Recipe and Method

A little simple family recipe for you again, this is for the very tasty and gooey flapjacks. I got a bag of rolled oats from a friend but don't really like using these oats for porridge so found the next best thing.  These are a great little treat to munch on and to create with you little one, Lilly loves to mix the oats in for me.  Recipe 125g of Butter 100g of Brown Sugar 4 tbsp of Golden Syrup 275g Rolled Oats Method 1. Preheat your oven to 180oC/Gas Mark 4 2. Melt the Butter, Sugar and Golden Syrup together over a bain-marie (bowl over boiling pan of water). 3. Mix in oats and stir until all oats are completely covered. 4. Pour the oat mixture into an ovenproof tin lined with baking paper. 5. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, until golden brown. 6. Simple Chocolate cake • Recipe and Method

Recently we made a really simple chocolate cake and wanted to share the recipe with you. This recipe has such a small amount of ingredients and is so easy to make but tastes amazing too. Recipe - 50g Dark Chocolate - 50g Butter - 30g Plain Flour - 1tsp Cocoa Powder - 60g Caster Sugar 1 egg Method 1. Preheat your oven to 180°c/ gas mark 5 2. Break chocolate into a glass bowl with butter and place over a boiling saucepan of water to melt. 3. Stir well, remove from heat and leave to cool.  4. Break your egg into a bowl with the sugar and whisk until light and creamy. 5. Slowly add the chocolate to the egg mix and stir well. 6. Sieve in the flour and cocoa and fold in. 7. Put the mixture into a greased shallow cake tin and bake for 25 minutes. This is so easy and a great recipe for a quick and tasty cake, especially to make with your children. xXx
