I love reading to, and now with Lilly, I think it makes her imagination work, teaches her things and makes her more aware of everything around her. We have quite a large pile of Christmas/wintery books which we get out every year and add to as well.  I have picked 5 favourites which are completely related to Christmas that we love in this house, I like the more traditional stories that make the meaning of Christmas more apparent and the magic real for as long as possible. The night before Christmas - A complete classic, we have had this book since she was just one, I wanted to make it a Christmas eve tradition to read it together. A Christmas Carol - Another classic story, this one is actually new to our collection (Aldi) but Lilly knows the story due to the Cbeebies Christmas show. When I dream of Christmas - This is an amazing book explaining some lovely things about Christmas. It includes the meaning of Christmas and some traditions that families have too...

Me and Lilly have a few minute's together every night to read a bedtime tale and every night I get her to pick her book. As she seems to pick some of the same ones often I wanted to share her favourite books with you. Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. We both love anything to do with the authors/illustrators of the book but Monkey Puzzle seems to be the one she turns to at the moment. Monkey Puzzle is a story about a lost monkey and a butterfly who is trying to help. It is a rhyming story which helps children learn about animals through size, colour and characteristics. The Dinosaur that pooped a lot by Dougie Poynter and Tom Fletcher This is one of my favourites too, the story was part of last year's 'World Book Day' so was only £1 when we got it.  The story is about a boy and his dinosaur travelling through time and space but unsure how to get home, we find out how at the end. The story obviously contains the word Poo ...

Reading Lilly her story before bed is a big part of our day, a constant really. So I thought that I would share our favourite books, the ones that Lilly asks for often. Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler our favourites of ours. This is the latest book we have which isn't the same as most of them. The main bit that rhymes is th's song the giant sings through the book. This is quite a sweet story and shows how a little thing can go a long way. The next is a book that most people have heard of, Dear Zoo. ThThis is so good for teaching animals, we also made the animal noises so that Lilly could learn them, she now makes the noises and names the animals as we read through the book. This next book shows a poor mum who just needs a few minutes to herself. I love the way that the children all have there own way of causing trouble. The story is such a cute idea as i can realate to the book as I am sure a lot of other mums can. These are three book that I pretty much know every wor...
