Mummy + Me • July 2016

Welcome back to Mummy + Me, another month has passed already and we are getting closer and closer to Lil's 4th birthday!! How are we almost into August? This month has been pretty quiet but we have been loving the Sunny weather and enjoying rekindling old friendships. We have had a fair few icecreams this month and worn a lot of dresses. Our money troubles sadly has gotten worse due to sickness but we will come out the other side stronger and hopefully soon but this has been kind of stressful sadly. Lilly is now finished with nursry for just over 8 weeks and I have been waiting foe this for a while, to enjoy have adventures with my little girl and making memories together. In some happier news I have been working towards volunteering at her school and have finally got all the forms taken back, so hopefully from September I will be helping and working towards becoming a teaching assistant. This month really has had its ups and down but we will look...

One stressed Mummy!

Do you ever feel like someone above doesn't like you so throws everything they can at you? That's how I feel right now. The past month has been awful! We have had no end of money issues, I hit a pot hole and damaged my car (fixed now) we have all been ill in one way or another and to top it off Lilly is acting like a threenager. I partially mentioned this in my Mummy + Me  post but it just seems to be getting worse. The past few days she has had strange mood swings, she has started throwing toys (which she knows not to do), she says NO constantly and strops when something doesn't go her way. If she's like this now, I dread to think whar the teens are going to be like (I may pack my bags before then haha). I must admit I do over worry about things and hold things in to much which she may pick up on but I have always been like that and unsure how to get myself out of that frame of mind. I do try and hide my trials and tribulations from her as much as possible...

Mummy + Me • April 2016

This my first Mummy and me post, I have wanted to write these for a while but have never gotton round to it. I have always wanted to document my little girls life from day one and filmed weekly pregnancy vlogs too. We have been adverntuing out more with me having a car, then when getting back home Lil's love to wrap up in her dressing gown for some snuggles. This month has been a testing month with extra expenses and illnesses going round.  Now its the end of the month and we are MEANT to be going away camping and watching racing but have a broken car and two out of the three of us is ill. Hopefully all will be well by then.  The threenager has really come out in Lilly in the past couple of months with her sulking over silly things, but she has started listening at nursery better which makes me super happy and proud of her.  xXx

The importance of a smear test

Image
Last month I got my first 'invitation' to have the cervical cancer screening, or smear test as it is commonly known. I was a little surprised as I am on 24 but phoned up straight away to book an appointment.  To me this is so inportant as it could potentially save your life. The test takes about 5 minutes, and even though it's unpleasent, in my eyes it's necessary. I am now in tge waiting period for my letrer to say weather or not I am clear of abnormal cells. It can take up to 21 days for the letter after your appointment and you will hear either way.  The nurse that I had was so calming she showed the equipment and explained exactly what she was going to do. She could tell I was nervous but she kept re-assuring me and just telling me to breath and relax. I am so relieved that it is done and hope that everything is ok. But I just wanted to write this for everyone who has had the invite. Come on ladies Take it! Book an appointment and have th...

A Trip to Fairlight Country Park

Image
It is coming to the end of the Easter school break so want to make the most of the last few days with her, especially now I have a car to take her places.  Yesterday I decided to take Lil's on a trip to Fairlight Country Park which isn't to far from us luckily.  The Country park is a beautiful place which so many little trails that we can take. The first trail we took goes straight past the Fairlight coastguard station with the radar. The trail then goes off towards the cliffs, the view from up there is just beautiful. On a good clear day you can actually see over to Dieppe, France. We then took the long walk back up the hill to the carpark where we took the second trail up. This trail took us though to the old quarry, this looks like something out of a movie as it is so surreal. The trail took us down some man made and some natural steps down in the the main part, once down the steps we were surrounded by the rocks from the quarry.  We then headed back a...

Chinese New year crafts

Image
Today is Chinese New year,  the year of the monkey, so I wanted to do some crafts with Lilly to celebrate and teach Lilly about all the festivities.  First is the Chinese dragon, this was pretty fun to make and Lilly loves it. To make this I used a print off which I found on the crayons website. Lilly coloured it in and I cut it out. I made a concertina out of some paper and stuck it to the head and tale as a body. We had some gold shiny paper which I used as flames. Second was a paper lantern with the left of paper from the concertina. I used to make these all the time. Fold the paper in half and cut off about a 2cm strip off the end. The next part is cut strips about 2cm's apart from the folded end and stop about 2 cm's from the top. You then unfold and join the top together at the top and bottom to make a lantern shape. Now use the strip you cut off to make a handle. Did you do anything to do for Chinese New year?  xXx

I passed my driving test

Image
I am still in utter shock that I have done this, but I have great pleasure in letting you all know that on the Friday just gone I  passed my practical driving test. I am so so happy and proud of myself. This was the second time that I have taken my test and from the get go I thought that I had failed but luckily the mistake I had made was only a minor point. After this mistake my drive went very well. I had the three point turn as my manauver which I had last time too, but I find that one quite easy so was happy to do this one.  I never have to take the test again and I am so pleased about that as I was so so nervous. I came out with just 5 minors which was a lot better than 7 minors and 3 serious last time. I am so glad the hard part is over, I now have a bit of saving to do to get my car and insurance but I will get there and have some independence for myself.  xXx

Fun day | Punch and Judy and Lots more

Image
It was carnival week last week and we took advantage of the good weather and things going on around us. On Friday we went and saw a live punch and Judy, it was so good and funny, the only shame was is there was no crocodile :( but I spoke you can't have a live crocodile in the show lol. But again it was still good and Lilly enjoyed watching it too munching on her ice lolly.  On the same day there was a fun day on our estate so we enjoyed some music and displays, my mum and dad came up too. Lilly painted a picture and made a couple of clay things.  Lilly also got to sit in a fire engine again, she understood a lot more this time though :). She choose to have her face painted like a butterfly and just before we went in she was building some robots with consortina style arms and legs and strange heads too. It was a nice day in the sunshine and we had lots of fun making and doing. xXx

OOTD | Holiday edition

Image
I was treated by my man to a clothing haul before we went away and this was one of the looks that I was able to pull together for an evening up the club house. The main part is a peach play suit from 'Select'. Its very lacy and I was so unsure of this but the picture made me love it so much. This was in the sale from just £7.99 My cardigan is just an old one from New Look. I've had this for ages and just thought it would add a bit more of a casual look. To finish the look I just had some black tights and a pair of peach pumps from Primark, they cost me just £4. I absoloutly love this look and am so glad I picked this up. xXx

Easter basket 2015

Image
I have done another Easter basket this year for Lilly pops. I love the idea of these and I believe that they make it more exciting for the child themselves. It also means that you can buy other things rather than just chocolate. We have afew of the same things from last year, such as her bouncing bunny, the finger puppets and the personalized egg from  beebies  but we have added some items too So this year we have a very cute drinking cup with chicks and eggs on, it have a swirly straw too and this was from poundland. we then have an Easter book for us to read from  world of books .We then just have a mini Lyndt bunny and a Cadbury's head egg. I really enjoy doing these for Lilly and I hopes she enjoys it too. xXx

Halloween 2014

Image
I know it's a few days after Halloween but I wanted to share with you what we got up to. We had a fantastic day with lots of different activities to keep Lilly busy.  Firstly we went to Tesco where we got Lilly's face painted as a pumpkin for charity and got a photo taken to. So lots of memories. She sat so still when having her face done, she was amazing. I did Lilly a little Halloween bucket with a few bits in. We had a Peppa pig Halloween sticker book, so biscuits to decorate, so chocolate, and some orange paint for our handprint spider. Lilly decorated her pumpkin biscuit with icing and sugar balls. I helped with the icing but she loved putting the sugar balls onnto the icing. Lilly loves doing handprints so thought I would tie it in with Halloween and made a spider out of them. It's not the best but Lilly enjoyed it and made a lovely mess. Bless her. Lastly we finished off with pumpkin carving. Lilly helped scooped out the...

Potty training time

Image
So I feel in me that Lilly is ready for potty training, she uses the potty al part every day once or twice and now feel that it is time to get the ball rolling. Last week I brought a couple of items to get us on our way, firstly was a pack of 18-14 month briefs, just the cheap and cheerful ones beacuse I know accidents are going to happen. These were only £3 from F&F (Tesco) I then also brought a pack of dry like me. These were on offer at £2 a box. There little pads to go into briefs. I thought these would be good to try out.  Lilly will use the potty mainly before bed, or just after she has woken. I have been rewarding her with lots lf praise and a sticker for her chart to show her how many times she has managed to use it. We have also used a couple of the dry like me, the first time she hated it but the second time was completely different. Both times she has told me to late bless her. She gets so angry and upset at herself. Fingers crossed p...

Toddler books | Bedtime favourites

Image
Reading Lilly her story before bed is a big part of our day, a constant really. So I thought that I would share our favourite books, the ones that Lilly asks for often. Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler our favourites of ours. This is the latest book we have which isn't the same as most of them. The main bit that rhymes is th's song the giant sings through the book. This is quite a sweet story and shows how a little thing can go a long way. The next is a book that most people have heard of, Dear Zoo. ThThis is so good for teaching animals, we also made the animal noises so that Lilly could learn them, she now makes the noises and names the animals as we read through the book. This next book shows a poor mum who just needs a few minutes to herself. I love the way that the children all have there own way of causing trouble. The story is such a cute idea as i can realate to the book as I am sure a lot of other mums can. These are three book that I pretty much know every wor...

Halloween craft for toddlers

Image
So today Lilly did her first ever Halloween craft with me. I was clearing out her craft cupboard I came across a bag of sweet wrappers and thought about something I could make. So here it is, our sweet wrapper pumpkin, quick and simple. You will need: - Some card - Sweet wrappers  - Glue - Scissors - Chalk Firstly draw your pumpkin or other shape onto the card with chalk or light crayon. Next glue the entire shape inside, Lilly did most, I just filled the area in. Next let your little ones stick down the wrappers which match your theme and picture. We used orange and gold for the face and green for the stalk. make sure all the wrappers are secure and glue down amy over laps.    Next is to cut it out and tidy the edges. To make the face I took the corners of the offcut card and got lilly to stick into place with help of pointing out roughly where. So simple and cheap to do. XxX

Toddler OOTD | Autumn

Image
I thought I would share Lilly's beautiful autumn outfit. Both these items are from nutmeg, Morrison's. So very affordable and beautiful clothing for all styles.  She is wearing a pair of navy blue jeggings which pretty much go with everything. These feel very well made and actually look my like jeans. These were £3 a pair. This top is just adorable. I love the picture on the front of the birds making a scarf for the fox or squirrel. Lol. Very autumnal and cheap at just £2 a top. No autumn outfit is complete without some sort of boots. These are her favourite which are her minnie mouse wellies. I actually got given these but by the very faded label it looks like George, asda. Lilly would wear these to bed if she could. Hope you enjoyed XxX

2nd Birthday Presents

Image
Here are the main things that we have brought Lilly for her birthday. We have a few smaller bits too. Firstly is the Peppa Pig cook n play kitchen. This will be her main present, It is battery opperated with sounds and aslo includes utensils and some food. Lilly loves pretend cooking and watching me cook so Liam (Daddy) thought it was perfect for her. Next is the large talking Upsy Daisy from In the night garden, a favourite of Lillys and her favourite character. She has phrases from the show and it also soft enough for her to cuddle in bed if she wished to.  These are the Early learning centre wooden pot and pan set, as you can see it also comes with food and utensils. I thought this was too cute to miss, had it a few months now. She can also learn to cut up the fish as its velcro. Lastly are the pretend and play cupcake set from Sainsburys. These were on offer for like £3 so couldn't resist. I love wooden toys for children as they, in my eyes, ar...

Bluereef aquarium and Fishermans museum

Image
We had a great family day out at our local aquarium,  Bluereef, we also had a look around the fisherman's museum. Another exciting day to share with you! Lilly was so unsure at first, especially of the big things such as this lobster.  Lilly was a little calmer with these as they kind of have a face from underneath, they kept poking their heads up to say hi as we told her. How strange but cute was this fish, came straight to the glass, looked straight at me and then slowly swam off. So many weird and wonderful sea creatures. My favourite part has to be the tunnel with fish swimming straight above your head including rays and sharks. I could stand there all day long and watch them. Such a beautiful peaceful place The pricing, in my opinion was a little steep costing £23 for three adults booking online, Lilly goes free till aged 4. It only took us 45 minutes to go around and we didnt rush.  Lastly is a rare photo of the thre...

Town and Country fair

Image
Today Lilly's Nanny took us to the Town and Country fair as it killed a couple of hours on a boring Sunday after noon. Lilly went on her first ride, which was a rattly old train, bless her. She was scared at first but after a couple of turns around she was fine, ringing the bell and waving at Nanny. They had some unusual animals there such as this wollaby (Sorry about spelling) which was quite random but pretty nice to see. There were also so many goats and dogs around. How cute is this goat?!? Lilly liked looking but didnt want to stroke them. All she wanted to do was walk around all the chickens and rabbit cages, for about 15 minutes straight and saying hello to them. Such a nice couple of hours, shame there wasnt more to see.  XxX
