Things to do in the summer holidays

Image
Summer holidays can seem quite daunting even when you little one is only at nursery, we have an extra two week to before Lilly and her school go back. Eight weeks can be a long time to keep a child entertained so I wanted to share a few things that we have planned for the next few weeks. Summer Reading Challenge We are taking part in the summer reading challenge which is linked to the library, this is for children aged 4-11 to encourage them to read. over the holidays they ask you/your child to read 6 or more books from the library and earn stickers along the way to solve the case with the Animal Agents. We were given this leaflet at her last visit which has 3 scenes inside, every trip you get a new sticker to help solve the case, some of the stickers are scented too to make it more fun for the children. We have read two books so far and will be going every Saturday to our local library to change books out and receive her stickers. Our local library also has a dog traine...

Magic painting and mini hairdressers • Summer Holiday Project 2016 #27

Image
We haven't ventured far from home today, only to the village for some shopping, but we have had a nice day in and I seem to have got a lot done. We  had to take an early trip to the village as our electricity ran out :( but we got a few other bits whilst down there to cover us for the rest of the day and Lil's got a 'Magic' spoon in her cereal so she was well chuffed. After we got back I started on the housework with the washing up, putting a wash on and folding, Lil's always puts her owm clothes away which is a huge help and earns her a sticker towards a prize. After lunch I started to edit my weekly vlog and Lil's came and joined me. We ended up dpingso magic painting with water, she got this with her peppa pig magazine the other day and at first could not understand why I said no to getting th paint out, she soon got the idea of just using water. Whilst letting thay dry we did some colouring and practised writing her name, she gets a l...

Chinese New year crafts

Image
Today is Chinese New year,  the year of the monkey, so I wanted to do some crafts with Lilly to celebrate and teach Lilly about all the festivities.  First is the Chinese dragon, this was pretty fun to make and Lilly loves it. To make this I used a print off which I found on the crayons website. Lilly coloured it in and I cut it out. I made a concertina out of some paper and stuck it to the head and tale as a body. We had some gold shiny paper which I used as flames. Second was a paper lantern with the left of paper from the concertina. I used to make these all the time. Fold the paper in half and cut off about a 2cm strip off the end. The next part is cut strips about 2cm's apart from the folded end and stop about 2 cm's from the top. You then unfold and join the top together at the top and bottom to make a lantern shape. Now use the strip you cut off to make a handle. Did you do anything to do for Chinese New year?  xXx

Easter crafts

Image
Easter is again upon us so I thought we would have an afternoon of crafts. We had lots of different bits from Peppa pig print outs to DIY decorations I picked up last year. Lilly really enjoyed the variety of things that I got out, and loved the fact that there was more than just colouring. We had things to glue and things to put on. Lilly also like filling the purple egg box with the play eggs, I'm thinking of doing her Easter lunch Iin the box to make it extra special. Lilly loved making her crown the most, glueing the eggs where she wanted them and making  it her own. I am really proud of how long she kept her attention to the crafts. What bits are you doing with your little ones?  xXx
