Today marks the end of the second week of the holidays already, I seriously can't believe this. We have been over nanny's this afternoon talkong about a trip out to our local country fair where they'll be staying.  They recently got a quad bike and also are looking after Lil's cousins quad too. We have been offered a little quad bike for Lilly which used to be her counsins when he was young, it needs a bit of TLC which my other half would be willing to sort out. We wanted to see if she would be comfortable on a quad bike so we firstly put Lilly onto her cousins one. She pretended to drive it, making noises and smiling her head off, this one needs a battery so isn't working at the moment.  Afterwards Daddy put Lil's on Nanny's quad which works, they both drove around the garden a few times which Lilly absoloutly loved. A couple of Sunday's ago just we attended our local Armed Forces Day. This is held in our local park and has lots of different things happening. We arrived about 11 which was sadly after the parade had happened, each year the event starts with a parade of cadets, girl guiding associations, veterans and members from each of the forces, this year there were also so Gurkha's who I sadly missed as they had to go back to base. The first thing Lilly saw was the bouncy castles, they were only little ones but perfect for the event, they only charged £2 for as long as they wanted which I thought was really good. Lil's had a good 15 minutes on these while I spoke to my parents and decided where we would go next. The next thing we went to was to get Lil's face painted, she had been going on about this since I had mentioned that there was going to be face painting there, she asked for a butterfly which she got done, they then offered to do mine too, I had a glit...

I'm sorry there wasn't a blog post yesterday but I wanted to share this on the day of the official opening. Our local pier, Hastings pier has been rebuilt from the ashes.  We visited the pier on the Monday just gone and really enjoyed a couple of hours on there. We had a lovely smoothie from a little drinks shack on there, some chips and curry sauce from the chippy and Lilly had a go on the chareoplanes at the front on the pier, where they have a few rides. The pier was burnt down back in 2010 to just a frame but the fireman saved as much as they could. We as a town could not be more grateful to all those that helped that night. The one fully intact part was the building at the front of the pier that used to be shops. This has been saved and restored into a restaurant and bar. Lilly has been learning about letters at school and is learning how to write her name, so last night I decided to use our bath paint mentioned in my  April favourites  post. We started off with spelling and writing her name on the wall, I wrote it as the bath paint isn't the easiest to use. She seemed to enjoy watching and learning through this so decided to start writing letters on the wall and getting her to tell me what letter it was.  After she told me the letter I got her to try and think of words that begin with that letter which worked really well. Se was able to come up with some words for all the letters I wrote down for her. She did get a little confused with C and K, when I asked her for an animal that began with C she said Kangaroo but I explained as best I could and told her that it was a good try too. We have mentioned these before when Lilly was just over 2 years old but I still had a packet in the drawers.  These are so easy to use, you get a small pack of the colour in tiny form, you then let them soak in the amount of water stated for the time stated, then they're ready to go. The texture is very slimy and slippery but bounce very well which Lilly loves. We play with them in the bath to keep the mess to a minimum otherwise I'll be finding them in a years time. They do brake eventually but Lilly gets a good 30 - 45 minutes per pack before we call it time. I get two different colour packs off of eBay for just 99p and they are usually delivered within a few days. eBay shop These are brilliant for learning colours or could even use them for a themed sensory play such as maybe the beach with shells and other related bit too. The weather was so hot but it was a fantastic day.  My Dad made a carnival float out of my mum's mobility scooter and turned it into postman pats van. This has taken about 5 months to complete with the finishing touches.  Me and Lilly were part of it too, Lilly dressed as Jess the cat and I was Mrs Goggins (exept the wig almost fell off). My brother was also in th carnival with the old drumming group that I used to be with called Section 5 drummers. How crazy do I look? Lol. But I don't think I made a bad Mrs Goggins. It's also fun to do and we raise a lot of money for local charities. This was one of my favourite, it must have been hot under that dome of his. He was completely in character and was so kind to Lilly with getting her to come over for a photo even with his mentions of 'taking over the world'.  This was such a cool float with swings and bars for the gymnasts to swing on whilst travelling around the ca...

It was carnival week last week and we took advantage of the good weather and things going on around us. On Friday we went and saw a live punch and Judy, it was so good and funny, the only shame was is there was no crocodile :( but I spoke you can't have a live crocodile in the show lol. But again it was still good and Lilly enjoyed watching it too munching on her ice lolly.  On the same day there was a fun day on our estate so we enjoyed some music and displays, my mum and dad came up too. Lilly painted a picture and made a couple of clay things.  Lilly also got to sit in a fire engine again, she understood a lot more this time though :). She choose to have her face painted like a butterfly and just before we went in she was building some robots with consortina style arms and legs and strange heads too. It was a nice day in the sunshine and we had lots of fun making and doing. xXx

Yesterday was the first snowfall our town has seen in two years, and even though it was bearly a covering we went out to enjoy it.  Nothing better than a little trip 's snowing to enjoy what doesn't happen very often. The ssnow only lasted about an hour at most but we wrapped ourselves up, Lilly in here (12-18 month) snowsuit, hat and gloves and me in my coat and gloves to walk to the village. Lilly ababsolutely loved it, making footprints and making small snow balls to throw at Mummy. She also loved the idea of when we got home warming up with some hot chocolate and marshmallows. We can certainly say we enjoyed the snow while it lasted and didnt get too cold. Just wish it was a little more and that Liam was home to have enjoyed it too.  How much snow, if any did you all get? So today Lilly did her first ever Halloween craft with me. I was clearing out her craft cupboard I came across a bag of sweet wrappers and thought about something I could make. So here it is, our sweet wrapper pumpkin, quick and simple. You will need: - Some card - Sweet wrappers  - Glue - Scissors - Chalk Firstly draw your pumpkin or other shape onto the card with chalk or light crayon. Next glue the entire shape inside, Lilly did most, I just filled the area in. Next let your little ones stick down the wrappers which match your theme and picture. We used orange and gold for the face and green for the stalk. make sure all the wrappers are secure and glue down amy over laps.    Next is to cut it out and tidy the edges. To make the face I took the corners of the offcut card and got lilly to stick into place with help of pointing out roughly where. So simple and cheap to do. XxX

We thought that we would take a trip to Rural past times this year, it was only a 10 minute drive away.  Here are a few snaps from today. Lilly loved the little tikes car her cousin had out there. These beautiful shire horses, so tall and look so strong, Lilly had never seen a horse up close before. This is an amazing music stand which plays music and had some visible moving parts, such a beautiful example of the past. Nanny brought her a lovely new hat from one of the handmade stands, and we found this beautiful bench carved out with owls. Lilly met her 2nd cousin today, they had lots of fun playing together in the sand and the car, it was so adorable. I think that it tired Lilly out as she went to sleep no trouble bless her. She has been spoilt and came home with the new hat, a shape sorter and an inflatable minnie mouse. All in all a wonderful day :)  xx

We have been up to so much lately and thought I'd show you. Firstly was pirate day, this is a yearly tradition in our town and we currently hold the guiness world record for the amount of people dressed as pirates. There are lots of activities and more pirates about than the eye can see. Next was a family fun day on our estate where lilly got her face painted, we held a snake and a frog and also stroked a tortoise and a lizzard. Lilly also sat in a fire engine so was a busy and fun day. Lastly was Hastings carnival in which my Dad did a WW1 inspired float for the 100 year anniversary, so me and Lilly dress in army outfit. Was such a good day and we got lots of cheers. All in all we have been so busy, but it's all fun at the end of the day

This week I decided to make some salt dough for Lilly to do a handprint in. So simple with ingredients from the cupboard. You will need: 2 cups of plain flour 1 cup of salt 1 cup of water Method: Mix all ingredients together well to form dough then play Model into shapes or roll out as we did and do prints. After you have done you need to cook on a low heat for a few hours. such a quick and simple idea, and can be very good to make momentos. Thanks for reading Viki x
