100 days till Christmas • My Baking Prep
It is 100 days till Christmas which means only one thing, it's time to get the recipe books out and start baking up a storm.
The first thing is the Christmas Cake, my favorite. We start to get the ingredients together now and start the baking in October, this may sound super early to some BUT there is a bit to do after baking and before you can tuck in.
Also in October we start on the mince meat recipe too, so that the mixture can rest for a few weeks. We do make this in huge batches so a batch can last us up to three years :) or mince pies all year round. They are the main bits to get done asap.
No we come to December.....the main bulk of the baking is done in this month.
We usually make many mince pies to get through, Lilly helps me with there, she rolls out the pastry and fills them with the homemade mince meat too.
to follow on are the Melted snowman biscuits, Candy cane lollies and gingerbread. These are usually baked/made on the week leading up to Christmas so that we can get cosy with a Christmas film and tuck in to our sweet treats.
This is the best part of Christmas for me, baking with my little girl with all the spices and smells around us.
To get yourself organised you could always take a look at some Christmas cards by Paperless post.

ReplyDeleteoh, you are so super organised. I'm totally impressed. I can't get my head around Christmas until Halloween has come and gone.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Do you bake any savouries for christmas?
ReplyDeleteI cant bake sweet things (They just always end up hard or crappy) so I opt for quiches, bacon and cheese turnovers & bits like that.
Last year with me wokring and hosting a huge christmas day party I didnt have time for baking so bought a huge bundle of bits from M&S... wasnt half as good and hardly any got eaten.
This year I want to do it properly. Glad to see I am not the only one getting uber excited already.
Much love
I cook a few bits, like cheese scones, which I have a recioe for going up tomorrow, quiche and sausage rolls but my main love is the sweet treats.
DeleteI seriously cannot wait to get started with all the Christmas things :D X
